(Haile Selassie had uninterrupted direct female descent.) Of course, this assumes that the Solomonic restoration by Yekuno Amlak I in 1262, when he overthrew the last ruler of the Zagwe dynasty, was in fact true. Yekuno Amlak I claimed direct male line descent from the old Axumite royal house that the Zagwes had replaced on the throne. But the Axumites had been pushed out of power over 300 years earlier, so verifying that fact is a little difficult… -- source link
