We staid at the hotel Avenida Playa in Zahara de los atunes at the “main street” to the beach, which actually is a very small, short street along the ruin of an old castle.They gave us a big, nice room at the second (top) floor with a huge terrace and a very beautiful view. The two young women working there have already seen us when we drove by looking for a parking space and received us with the brightest smile. Staff at this little hotel was really very nice.The main street from Algeciras to here crosses spectacular landscapes, you drive literally around a huge nature reserve. Then you take a much smaller road to the left and drive halve an hour along hundreds of wind energy generators. It is a very beautiful way up and down small hills, but the street is narrow and almost doesn’t offer places to stop, have a cigarette, enjoy the views and take a photo. Actually the few places where you can stop appear always some two kilometres after one had a breathtakingly beautiful view, exactly on places from which you don’t get the impression…I would have loved to take some photos to show you, but then we simply enjoyed the ride down to the coast.. -- source link
