I’ve been trying to identify this bee in my garden, which is fuzzy like a bumblebee but all black. It doesn’t appear on any of the ‘common bees you are likely to spot in your garden’ lists. The bumblebee conservation trust has more detailed lists on their website, and the best I can make out it might be either a Ruderal Bumblebee or a male Field Cuckoo Bumblebee, but I’m no expert, so I can’t be sure. All I know is that it loves my erysimum bowle’s mauve - I get a crowd of them all over it, every day! -- source link
