bantarleton:An officer of the Royal Highland Regiment (the Black Watch) shows his broadsword to a curious Native American ally while his men look on. With both highland Scots and Native Americans hailing from warrior-based tribal cultures, a degree of empathy developed between them during the French and Indian War. It’s also interesting to note that the redcoat in the middle has yellow facings, not blue like those either side. Usually this would indicate he was from a different regiment, but it is possibly supposed to represent the fact that the Black Watch originally had yellow facings and only switch to blue during the Seven Years War after earning the “royal” moniker for bravery in battle. -- source link
