art-of-swords:Trident Parrying DaggerDated: circa 1600Culture: GermanMeasurements: overall length 45 cmThe dagger has a straight, double-edged blade with slightly strengthened tip and tang grooved at the borders. At the back there’s a sliding button chiselled as a flower which, once pressed, releases the lateral blades in order to block the sword hits.The iron hilt has quillons of octagonal section, bent toward the blade and ending in grooved drops. There’s a parry ring at the front, decorated en suite. The dagger has a hexagonal pommel with hollow faces and a wooden grip with iron and brass wire bindings, plus a moor’s heads.
