luna-and-mars:luna-and-mars:palaeofail-explained:International commission on stratigraphy pride flagI can’t even describe how happy this makes me. As a queer geologist and just I’ve spent SO much time with these colors bc I keep doing crafts based on it so I’ve spent so much time focusing on the colors in particular and this is just the greatest thing I’ve ever seenedit: wait not all prose flags have all stripes the same width, what if it was to scale. Not the whole thing obviously you wouldn’t be able to see most of it but like relative to similar-length periods. I kind of want to experiment with this now (you know, instead of studying for my actual geology classes)Update: an attempt at making it to scale: The eons are in scale with the other eons, and all the periods are in scale with each other except the quaternary which I just widened until it was big enough to be visible. doesn’t look quite as cool though, I think I like the original better. ironically I made most of this during my sed strat class on our first day covering stratigraphy (in my defense it was just an intro to the topic and so far I’ve already known it all, and I figured that this was at least semi-relevant to the topic. sort of.) -- source link
