My Great Grandfather’s shotgun,Another heirloom in the family is this Ithaca double barrel 12 gauge shotgun. The shotgun was purchased by my Great Grandfather sometime in the early 1900’s after he immigrated from Sicily. Ithaca (from Ithaca, NY) was a company famous for producing cheap double barrel shotguns back then. Typically they were low priced firearms found for sale at hardware stores or retailers like Woolworth. My great grandpa used it a lot to hunt small game like rabbits and squirrels. He had about a dozen mouths to feed after all. My great grandfather made a living selling fruit and delivering it door to door by wagon, much like a milk man. Soon he had a store front, and a fleet of wagons. By World War II he had a fleet of trucks. He became one of the wealthiest men in his small town, founding other businesses that the family ran. He passed away in 1965. -- source link
