Before he knew it (知らないうちに, shiranai uchini), the rice and miso had rapidly (ずんずん, zunzun) disappeared. “Dear me, that’s odd.”One day, he left the house with the pretense (ふり, furi) of going to sell some buckets (おけ, oke).
