prismatic-bell:jenniferrpovey:ride-the-bifrost:raffertysarah:The Hunger Games (2012) // Catching Fire (2013)Is it just me, or is she wearing way less makeup in the second set? Almost like she took off a mask. It’s character development. She starts off as not caring for the tributes…why should she…and as she starts to do so, the makeup disappears.I think it’s also worth noting that Katniss more or less lives in the woods. That’s her happy place. Effie is still dressed in some of that ridiculous Capitol fashion in the second set … but she’s also wearing something she, as a born and bred city girl, might identify with Katniss. “Oh, she likes nature, butterflies are nature, right?” She feels deeply for Katniss at this point, but the books make clear she doesn’t understand Katniss at this point. She’s trying to, she’s just … not there yet.I also find it interesting she’s wearing gloves in the first set and pulls them off to pull a name, and in the second set she leaves them on. It could just be a choice for the sake of flow and blocking (especially since the first time she’s trying to “draw out the anticipation” and the second time she’s basically like “fuck all this, I have to send my girl back into the arena it isn’t fair”), but it also strikes me that it works very well as her distancing herself, in a subtle way, from the Capitol’s tools. -- source link
