THE PROPHET ELIJAH IS THE DOCTOR!”(On Passover, you open the door for Elijah and pour him a cup of wine. Basically, the cup is supposed to represent this highly theoretical aspect of the Passover story, but the rabbis couldn’t decide whether it should be drunk in the ceremony or not (there is a LOT of wine drinking at Passover, it’s a really great holiday), so they kicked the can down the road by saying that the question will be resolved “when Elijah returns,” i.e. WHEN HE SHOWS UP TO TELL US THE MESSIAH IS COMING, i.e. THE END OF THE WORLD.)(All of which actually fits pretty damn well with any given season finale of Doctor Who, I’m just saying.
