MINI SHOP UPDATE! http://devotaj.etsy.com ⠀ This one-of-a-kind hamsa amulet/shrine is called - “The Weaver’s Hand.” Only one like this I will probably make for a while.⠀ $175, with USA shipping included – and ready to ship.⠀The embroidery is done on a cotton handkerchief that was painted with high-viscosity acrylic paint, which gives the background depth and shimmer. It is stitched in silk and cotton, and intended to resemble filigree work set with jewels - especially opal, which is connected to the Weaver aspect of the Divine in the Kohenet community.⠀ It has been set in a 12x12 inch shadow-box style frame an inch deep, that has a gold edge and inside painted a deep “twilight” blue that also has shimmer that is hard to pick up in the photos. The frame provides a 1" shelf that small objects can be placed on, so it can serve as a personal shrine/altar – as well as a piece of art.⠀ It is signed in the lower right corner of the frame with my sigil, a pomegranate with the Hebrew letter ק in the middle - this does not show in the photos.⠀ With the depth of the frame it is ready to hang as is, but could easily have a hanger affixed to the back.⠀ The hamsa (also called Hand of Fatima in Islamic culture) is a ancient symbol of Divine presence and protection. Many people believe it to also represent the Divine Feminine, in particular. It has been used as a talisman and amulet, as well as for judaica decoration for centuries.⠀ -- source link
