thedosian-cabbage:The interpretation of the Hero of Ferelden, as he became depicted in the murals of Castle Denerim’s hall of lords after his death, was one of both honor and warning. Traditionally a goblet symbolizes partaking of celebrations and merrymaking, yet naught but fire and blood pours from the cup in the Grey Warden’s hand; the background, grim and coppery. Colors of wars, colors of violence, a grim reminder that Warden-Commander Mordred Surana’s rise to heroism – rather the steps which took him there – were built of strife and Blight.Yet is is not an insult. It was not meant to be, and was not taken as such by the Warden himself. The Taint winds its way deep in our soil even now, curls its corrupting claws around the heart of our Orzammar neighbors’ ancestral halls. Insurgence among the darkspawns, even if no Blight is taking place, is no less dire than a fire at our doorsteps. So Warden Surana looms somberly in the hall of lords, his cup spilling fire, a call to action and a warning to remember the illusion of our safety.–from Brother Genitivi, a brief commentary on the installation of Mordred Surana’s memorial in Castle Denerim@vilemie offered to do me a tarot card and honestly words are beyond me.
