OH GOD I DID IT I SAID I WOULD YOU DIDN’T BELIEVE ME DID YOU so the lilligant part is purely an obscenely overworked flower, the actual body of the plant is a rhizome and it “walks” on modified root structures similar to my favorite insect praying mantis legs using hydraulic mechanisms. It wouldn’t be extremely mobile, the adaptation is more for solar tracking. It’s probably from a tropical origin where it lived on the forest floor, following any small shafts of light that break through the canopy, absorbing nutrients from the very tips of its root-legs. The petilil buds form under the main lilligant flower, and open to form a new lilligant as the old petals fall off exposing the crown-like stamen. -- source link
