Description: Calum Hood, the schools golden boy. He’s the reason that the varsity team is undefeated for four years. He’s got perfect grades, a scholarship to one of the best colleges in the country. But no one knows his secret, that his passion for music is bigger than his passion for soccer. And what happens when Ember Williams finds out that secret? Read to find out! Chapter 5 6. Floating.Kissing Calum makes me feel as if I’m floating on a passion filled, burning cloud, and nothing could bring me down.Well, nothing except a lack of oxygen.I’ve never held my breath for this long, and I feel like I’m about to pass out. I don’t want to pull away though. His lips are so soft, and the feeling of them against mine, it feels so good.I finally pull away, taking in small gasps of air. My eyes flutter open, and I see Calum with his eyes closed. He’s out of breath too, surprising me that one simple kiss can do that to him.After a few seconds his eyes open too, and he grins, still so close to me. “That was amazing,” He breathes out. I nod in agreement, still catching my breath.“That was my first kiss,” I admit quietly, unsure of why I do.“Really?” His eyes widen in shock, and guilt.“Really,” I smile.“I’m sorry, I should have asked, instead of just planting one on you,” He takes a step back.I get a surge of confidence, “Then why don’t you?” I take a step towards him.“Can I kiss you?”I put my finger to my chin and pretend to think for a minute, then I laugh lightly and smile at Calum, “Yes.”He caresses my jaw, and leans in to press his soft lips to mine once again. My eyes automatically close, as the feeling of his lips on mine seeps through my body. I place my hands on his chest to steady myself. He smiles within the kiss, and places his hands on my hips.His touch is like fire, and I am flimsy rubber melting into it. All that I can think of is how amazing this feels.I pull away to take in a deep breath, then immediately place my lips back on his, taking him by surprise.He pulls me closer into him, and I move my fingers up to his neck, into his soft hair. I tug on the ends of his hair lightly.A moan vibrates through his throat, reverberating throughout my lips. He quickly pulls away from me, gently grabbing my hands from the back of his neck, holding them between our bodies.“I’m sorry,” I mumble, feeling ashamed that I went too far.“No, no, no, you didn’t do anything wrong,” he insures, “I just didn’t want to move too fast, and that drives me crazy, so I almost lost my self control,” He squeezes my hands gently, careful of where the glass was.The way he says “I almost lost my self control.” Sends a bolt of electricity through my body, at the thought of what would happen if he did lose his self control.“It’s okay, I trust you,” I reply, smiling up at him.He just grins, “Will you wear my Jersey on Friday?”I’m taken by surprise, “What?”He looks up at me, “Wear my Jersey on Friday, we have another game, and I want the whole school to know that I only have my eyes on one girl.”My cheeks warm up and my heart stutters. I bite my lip, thinking about wearing his jersey to his game, about having the whole school’s eyes on me, it makes me sick to my stomach, “I don’t know Calum, the whole school will see.”He looks hurt for a minute, “If you don’t want to, I understand,” He replies sadly, turning his face away. I can’t stand seeing him like this, so I just decide to do it, “I’d love to.”I want to kiss his addicting lips again, but I don’t want to come me off too strong.“Great. I’ll give it to you when you come over to my house tomorrow to work on our Spanish homework?” He smirks.“Okay,” I blush and smile at the ground.Suddenly my phone vibrates, I dig it out of my pocket to see a text from my mom.Don’t forget to take out the trash, and do the laundry when you get home.I sigh and look up at Calum, “I gotta get home and do my chores.”He nods, then smoothly takes my phone out of my hands.“What’re you doing?” I ask trying to grab my phone back.He dodges my grabs, “I’m putting my number in it.”“Oh,” I blush and retract my hand. After a few seconds he gives it back. I smile and pocket it, blushing as our fingers brush and tingles crawl up my spine.“I’ll walk you to your car,” He offers“Everyone’s wrong, chivalry isn’t dead!” I exclaim, and grin at him.“I guess not,” He smiles and puts away the guitar, me putting away the chairs at the same time. We grab our backpacks, and he opens the door for me. I grin and thank him. We emerge into the empty school hallway.I guide us towards the parking lot my car is in. Halfway down the hallway, I feel Calum intertwine his fingers with mine. I look over to him and see him smiling straight ahead of us, eventually glancing at me out of the corner of his eye.I simply blush and look down, trying to ignore the burning, tingling sensation his touch sends across my skin.Once we get to the parking lot, it’s nearly empty. I lead him to my car, “This is it,” I murmur, turning to face him.He nods, “Drive safely,” He squeezes my hand then pulls his away, leaving it tingling.“You too,” I smile and turn to unlock my car.“One more thing,” He spins me around, and places his lips firmly on mine.My eyes flutter closed, and I grip the sides of Calum’s shirt to maintain my balance. This kiss is different than the other ones we shared earlier. Instead of being soft and sweet, it’s hungry and needy, but not to the point of aggressiveness. Over all it leaves me weak at the knees and disoriented when he pulls away.“I’ll see you tomorrow,” He whispers into my ear, his warm breath tickling my neck.He backs away sending me a wink and a boyish side grin. Once he turns around, I lean back onto my car, close my eyes and try to catch my breath, with a huge grin plastered on my face.…The morning I wake up and it feels as if I slept for three days. To make it even better, all I dreamed about was Calum and I.I roll over with a sleepy smile on my face, and look at my alarm clock.5:53 amI woke up almost 20 minutes earlier than I set it to ring, and surprisingly I’m okay with it.I roll out of bed and head to the shower, enjoying the warm water wake me up more.After I finish showering I dry my hair, and put on my prettiest blouse, and some jeans that match it. I never dress up–if you classify this as dressing up–and now I am, all because of Calum.I think I’m falling for this boy.I blush at the thought, even though no one is around. Just the thought of being near Calum makes the butterflies in my stomach wake up.My phone vibrates, signaling that I have a new text. I glance to see that it’s from Calum. We texted a bit last night, until I fell asleep around 11.Good morning :) Hope you’re slept well. XxI smile at the thoughtful text, and type back my reply.Good morning to you too :) I slept great, I hope you did as well. Sorry that I fell asleep on you :( xxHis reply comes instantly.C: I slept like a baby ;) and you’re fine, I shouldn’t have kept you up.E: You’re fine, it wasn’t too lateC: Good. I’ll see you at lunch ;) xxI don’t know how to reply to that, so I don’t. I finish getting myself ready, then head downstairs to get some breakfast.I pour a bowl of cereal, and eat it in silence, until mom comes into the kitchen.“Did dad already leave for work?” I say through a mouthful of Cheerios.“Yes, he had to go in early, again,” She shakes her head, not bothering to scold me for my poor manners.I frown, but get over it. Dad always has to go into work early, it’s part of being a lawyer, giving people justice and such.“Oh, mom. I’m going over to a… friends house after school to work on a Spanish project that’s due on Friday.”I slide past her and set my empty bowl in the sink. She turns her head to me, her eyebrows raised.“And what is this friends name?” I groan, not happy of where this is going.“Calum,” I mumble“Is that the boy you were just crying about all weekend?”My mouth drops open and my eyes widen, “What?”“Don’t look at me like that, I’m not clueless,” She puts her hand on her hip.I give her a shy smile, “It was just a huge misunderstanding.”She gives me a look as if she knows I’m not telling her something.“Why were you home later than usual yesterday?”At the perfect moment Lucy comes bounding down the stairs in a poofy, bright yellow dress,“I’m ready to go!”“Oh, yeah, we’re going to be late. Gotta go, bye mom!” I give her a quick kiss on the cheek, then rush out the door with my backpack before she can ask me anything else.We get in the car and head to the elementary school.“So what are you supposed to be today sweet cheeks?”“I’m a princess, and stop calling me that!” She crosses her arms, looking extremely adorable.“Well, your highness, have a wonderful day at school,” I say as I pull up to the front of her school.“You too,” She mumbles and gets out of the car hurrying to her school.I drive to my school, excited and nervous about lunchtime.…“Okay class, we have a quiz today, clear off your desks, and get a pencil out,” Ms. Hart announces.I place my face in my hands, because I completely forgot about the quiz because off all of the Calum drama.“Ember, is there a problem?” She places a hand on her hip, raising her eyebrows.“No ma’am,” I grit my teeth and clear off my deskI spend the next half hour combing through my memory, trying my best to get as many questions right as I can.The bell rings right as I finish the quiz, signaling lunch. I gather my things and hand my paper in, ignoring the glare Ms. Hart gives me.I hurry to my locker, throwing my things in it, then meet up with Kim and Jess.“So Ms. Hart gave us a quiz today, and I’m pretty sure that I failed,” I tell them as I grab my tray.“Dang, that sucks dude,” Jess gives me a sympathetic side glance.I grab a few things that look good, then pay for my lunch and sit down across from Kim, and Jess comes and sits next to me.“No wonder she’s not married, no one would ever want to be stuck with her forever, ” Kim scoffs.“Yeah she’s such a-”“Hey Ember,” I look up and see Calum and Tyler standing in front of us with their lunch trays.“O-oh, hi!” I sputter, completely surprised.“Can we sit?” He gestures to the empty seats besides us.“Yes!”“No!” Jess says at the same time as me, giving him a death glare.She turns to me and gives me a confused, and pissed off look.I remember that they don’t know that Calum didn’t do anything wrong, so they both hate him.“Um, excuse us for a second,” I jump up, dragging Jess away with me, signaling Kim to come as well. I stop once we’re out of earshot.“What the hell? Why would you gladly let him sit by us after what he did?” Jess fumes, pulling her arm away from me.“He didn’t do anything,” I reply“Um, do you not remember crying your eyes out after finding out that he hooked up with Shannon?” Jess retorts.“He never hooked up with her,” She give me a confused look, so stay to explain it to her.“It was a complete lie that Shannon said. He never hooked up with her, and he only kissed her because she dared him too while they were playing truth or dare.”“What a desperate slut,” Kim mumbles under her breath.“How do you know this?” Jess asks, not fully believing me.“He asked me to meet him after school, to explain himself…. He also told me that he likes me, and kissed me,” I admit, knowing they’d get it out of me eventually.They both squeal, causing people to give us strange looks.“Shut up!” I smack them both, turning tomato red.“Come on let’s get back to Embers boyfriend,” Kim wiggles her eyebrows “He’s not my boyfriend!” I smack her again“He will be soon,” Jess says mischievously.“Don’t you dare say anything,” I say seriously.“I won’t,” She smiles softly, and we head back silently.Calum is sitting with Tyler talking, and eating. Once he looks up at me my nerves go crazy.“Hey,” He smiles up at me.“Hey. Sorry about that, we just had some.. Sorting out to do,” I trail off and sit where my tray is, which happens to be right across from Calum.Kim sits next to Tyler and they talk quietly, her giggling every once and a while.“So… You and Ember ay?” Jess wiggles her eyebrows at Calum.I face palm, knowing that she’d say something. After a few seconds of pure embarrassment I look to see Calum with his cheeks tinted pink, and his eyes wide.I turn to Jess and she has an innocent look on her face. I punch her as hard as I can, and she yelps in pain, instantly grabbing her arm.“Son of a bitch!” She exclaims falling over dramatically.Calum bursts out laughing. Tyler and Kim join him, and soon I do too. Eventually Jess sits up and gives me a glare, then starts to laugh as well. Calum gives me a sincere smile, causing the ever-present butterflies in my stomach to burst to life again.Chapter 6!
