Description: Calum Hood, the schools golden boy. He’s the reason that the varsity team is undefeated for four years. He’s got perfect grades, a scholarship to one of the best colleges in the country. But no one knows his secret, that his passion for music is bigger than his passion for soccer. And what happens when Ember Williams finds out that secret? Read to find out! Chapter 6 7. The rest of the school day flies by. In Spanish we didn’t work with partners again, sadly. So I didn’t get to talk to Calum. He kept turning around and look at me though. He even got caught by Mr. Garcia, and got scolded to stop turning around, yet he continued to do it, not caring if he got in trouble.Right now I’m waiting at my locker awkwardly, Calum told me that he’d meet me here. I dig my latest book out of my backpack and start reading, instantly getting lost in it, not aware of my surroundings. Because of that, I don’t notice Calum calling my name, until he waves a hand in front of my face.“Oh, hi! Sorry, this is just a really good,” I move my gaze to my feet.“Nah you’re fine, it’s cute. Should we go?” He states casually, smiling at me.“O-oh, um, sure!” I sputter, my cheeks heating up, after he calls me cute.He grabs my hand, intertwining our fingers as if it’s the most natural thing to do. “Let’s go.”His hand is warm and soft, against my sweaty, clammy one. I just hope that he doesn’t mind, and by the way he’s smiling, I don’t think he does. We get to the parking lot, to a nice looking car, and I remember my own car.“Wait, what about my car?”“Oh! I didn’t think of that… How about you just leave it here and I’ll drive you home, then pick you up and take you to school tomorrow?” he proposes so smoothly, completely confident about himself.“I.. um drive my little sister to school everyday…” I bite my lip, unsure of what to do.“That’s fine, I can take her too,” he shrugs.“Are you sure?”He nods, “Yeah! It’s no big deal, really.”I smile and nod, agreeing to it. He smiles and opens my door for me. I blush for what seems like the millionth time today, and get into his car, noticing that the back seat has a huge bag full of soccer equipment. His car is clean, but not weirdly clean like the guys who are obsessed with their cars. It smells like him; the pine scented air-freshener hanging from the rear view mirror.During the drive we just make small talk, and listen to the radio, both of us grinning when Blink-182 comes on. We jam out the rest of the way, eventually pulling into his driveway.“Here we are,” he smiles, and hops out of the car, running to open my door.“Thanks,” I blush as I get out of the car.“You’re welcome. C'mon,” he leads me to the front door, unlocking it with a key on his chain. He opens the door and steps to the side, letting me in first. I immediately smell vanilla, and notice the stylish, yet traditional taste in furniture and decorations.“My parent’s are at work, so we get the house to ourselves. I hope that’s okay with you,” he announces as he shuts the front door.I nod to him, “Yeah that’s fine.”“Good, let’s go up to my room?” he says more like a question, as if asking permission.I nod again, and follow him up the stairs, down a small hallway, to his room. He opens the door and once I enter I feel as if I’ve entered sacred, forbidden land, and I like it. His room is a lot tidier than I thought it would be. A queen sized bed sits in the middle of the room, next to it a small dresser, and leaning on the dresser is a gorgeous acoustic guitar. In the corner of his room there is a book shelf and a desk, filled with papers and framed pictures. On the opposite side of the room there’s a good sized closet full of clothes and soccer things. Posters of lots of bands I recognize, and soccer players line the walls of his room.“So.. this is my room,” he sets his backpack on his bed, stuffing his hands in his pockets.“It’s nice,” I turn to him, after looking around for a few more seconds.“Thank you. I’d love to see yours sometime,” he winks at me, and my eyes widen. He laughs lightly, but doesn’t take it back, which makes me nervous, but in a good way.“I’m gonna go get us some drinks and snacks. You just sit here and look pretty while I go,” he grins, and disappears out the door.I shake my head, amazed by how he can affect me so much, by just saying a few words. I wonder over and look at his bookshelf. It mostly contains sports magazines, old binders, and a few books that I remember reading. After I’ve looked at every book, I go to look at what the mess of his desk contains. I see sticky notes with scribbled words like remember to study for English and don’t forget to take Tyler’s soccer ball to him. Most of the papers on his desk are assignments that are half finished. My eyes land on a picture frame of four people. I pick it up, and sit on his bed, examining the picture closer. It shows Calum when he was younger, what look like his parents, and a girl who looks a lot like him and the older woman in the picture.“So I got water, soda, some crackers and cheese, and some grapes,” He announces, and I glance up to see him holding a tray of food in one hand, and a few drinks in his other hand.“Who is this?” I point to the girl standing next to Calum. I feel bad for being nosy, but still ask because I’m curious. He sets down the food and drinks on his bed, and sits next to me. He grabs the picture, his hand covering mine that is holding onto it.“Oh, that’s my older sister Mali-Koa. She’s at Uni now, a couple towns over.”I nod, “You two look a lot alike.”He smiles at me, and nods his head in agreement, “Yeah, we get that a lot.”“Do you miss her?” I don’t mean to pry, but I want to get to know Calum.“All the time. It gets kinda lonely without her here,” He admits.“I bet it does,” I nod and look up at Calum. He looks down at me, his eyes flickering to my lips every few seconds. I start to lean in, but he abruptly stands up.“As much as I’d love to just slack off and make out the whole time, we need to work on this project,” he sighs, smiling playfully at me.My cheeks heat up, “U-um yeah. We need to w-work on it.”He grins, and shakes his head. Eventually he pulls out a box of markers, poster paper, rulers, glue, etc. Out of his closet, and sets it on the bed. I grab the biggest sheet of poster paper, and grab a marker writing Argentina on it. I pull out my Spanish binder and start writing down facts that we’ve learned about the country.About a half hour later, and a half way through with the poster, Calum throws down his pen.“That’s it, I can’t take this anymore,” He announces.I’m about to ask him what he means, but before I get the chance, Calum has crawled across the bed to where I’m sitting. He firmly places his lips on mine, taking my jaw in his hand. I immediately kiss him back, my body going crazy from his touch. We continue to fight for dominance, before I give up and let him take control. He lays me back so that he’s hovering over me, and he detaches his lips from mine. He starts trailing kisses down my jawline, and down to my neck. He starts to kiss and suck lightly, causing a brand new sensation. A quiet moan escapes from my lips, and Calum pulls away.“No, keep doing that,” I complain, trying to pull him back to me.“If I keep doing that, I’ll leave a mark, and I don’t think either of our parents would like that.” he smiles lightly.I blush and nod, “You’re right.”“But that doesn’t mean we have to stop kissing, I just can’t leave any marks on you,” he winks and places his lips back on mine.We continue our make out session for a few minutes, until I have to pull away for air. I keep my eyes closed, enjoying the feeling of the tingling still on my lips. After a few seconds I open my eyes, to see Calum sitting in front of me, his gaze on me. I blush and sit up, to face him.“I cannot believe you’ve never been kissed before me,” he shakes his head in amazement“Why?”“Because you are an amazing kisser.” He says seriously,I turn bright red, “Really?”He leans in and places a sweet, passionate kiss on my lips, then pulls away before it can go further, “Really.”I mumble a quick thanks, shocked by his compliment. He nods, about to say something before his phone starts to ring. He picks it up from his dresser. Before he answers it I glance to see that the caller I.D. Says ’Mum’“Hello?”“Good. How was work?” I hear his mother’s voice talking on the other line, but can’t understand what she’s saying.“That’s good.”“Yes, she’s here,” his eyes flicker to me, and he smiles, pulling the phone away from his ear, “Are you staying for dinner?”I hadn’t thought of that, “I.. uh-”He places the phone back to his ear, “Yes, she is.”“Okay, see you soon.”“Yeah, love you too, bye.”I look at him with wide eyes, and smack him lightly, “I never said I was staying! I don’t want to impose.”He just laughs, “No, it’s fine, my mum really wants to meet you.”I simply nod, suddenly getting nervous.“She’ll be home in about ten minutes.”I nod, and sit up, getting started on the project again.“A lot could happen in ten minutes.” says, his voice low, hinting at seductive. My eyes widen at what he’s implying, but just shake my head, not letting it affect me like he knows it can, “Yeah, like getting this project finished.”He tilts his head in surprise, “Not falling for my charms anymore, huh?”“Not when your mother will be here in ten minutes,” I smirk.“Sly girl,” he replies, and starts to work on the project with me.We’re nearly finish when I hear an engine from Calum’s open window. A new kind of nervousness enters my body. I start to go over all of the reasons that she’ll hate me. I feel like I’m about to puke, and my hands start to sweat. I stand up and start to pace slightly.“Hey, are you okay?” Calum asks, looking genuinely worried about me.“U-um, yeah. I just need to wash up,” I lie and bite my lip, to contain it’s trembling“It’s just down the hall on the right,” He says slowly, knowing that I’m lying.I hurry to the bathroom, and close the door once I get there. A few tears slip down my face, but that’s all I allow. I place my face in my hands and start to breath heavily. A soft knock is placed on the door,“Ember? Are you alright?” Calum’s voice is quiet through the door.“Y-yeah,” My voice quivers and the door opens slightly.Calum catches the sight of me, and opens the door all the way.“Are you crying?” he whispers, his eyebrows knit together.I shake my head and look away from him, only to be pulled back towards him by his gentle hands cupping my face. His thumbs pad over my cheeks, wiping away the few tears I allowed myself to shed. “Why are you crying babe?” his voice is pained.“What if she doesn’t like me?” I say, my voice barely audibleHe shakes his head, shock coming across his face, “Why wouldn’t she like you?”“Because I’m not good enough for you,” I mumble, embarrassed of my insecurity.“There’s no way that’s possible. If anything you’re too good for me.”I glance up at him, to see him smiling softly.“I mean it. There’s nothing to worry about, she’s going to love you, I promise,” he places a soft kiss on my forehead, his lips lingering there for a few extra seconds.“Calum?” a woman’s voice calls from downstairs.“Upstairs! We’ll be down in a sec,” he calls back, and pulls away, dipping his head down so he’s face to face with me, “Whenever you’re ready.”I nod, and take a deep breath, “I’m ready.”He smiles and grabs my hand, leading me downstairs. Once we get to the kitchen I’m faced with a gracious woman who Calum resembles greatly.“Hey mum, this is Ember.”She turns to us, and her features light up, a wide smile crossing her face.“It is so nice to finally meet you Ember, Calum has told me so much about you!” She gives me a tight hug, releasing me after a few seconds. My nerves instantly calm, a wave of relief rushing over me.“It’s nice to meet you too! I didn’t know that Calum talked about me,” I glance at him to see that his cheeks are tinted pink.“Oh yes! He talks about you all the time!”“Really? What does he say?” I want to know, but mainly I want to see Calum embarrassed.“Lots, of things. Like last week he told me about how-”“Yeah, okay lets save that for another time! Do you need help with dinner?” he changes the topic.“Yes! I need help chopping up these peppers, slicing and buttering the bread…” she continues to list things she needs help with.I give Calum a glare, and shake my head. He just grins, and sticks his tongue out at me.…After helping prepare dinner Calum and I went up to his room while it was cooking. We finished the project, and just listened to music and talked until Joy–as I found out her name was–called for us, saying that dinner was ready. I found out that Calum’s father wouldn’t be joining us for dinner, due to him being stuck at work, and I completely understand, because my dad is exactly the same.It was a delicious meal, and there wasn’t an awkward minute of it. Joy is such a kind hearted person, who has definitely raised her son right, and she knows it. She’s also an amazing cook, the pasta and bread leaves me stuffed, and sleepy. We help clean up dinner, and head to his bedroom for the last time of the night.“I should get home, my curfew is at 9,” I say, looking at my phone to see that it’s nearly 8:30.“Yeah, I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble,” he grabs his keys.As I’m putting on my shoes, Calum grabs two jackets and another item of clothing; his jersey.“Here, it’s cold out at this time of night,” he plops his hoodie on my head, and I laugh, putting it on all the way.We head down stairs and I say a quick goodbye to Joy, giving her a tight hug, and promising to visit again. We then head to his car, a comfortable silence setting over us. The ride to my house is quiet, with the radio playing quietly, and Calum’s hand holding tightly onto mine.I direct him to my house, and once we get there, he jumps out of the car and runs to my side, opening the door for me. He walks me to my front door, and once we get there, I turn to face him.“I had a good time today.”“So did I. I hope my mum didn’t scare you too bad,” he blushes.I shake my head, “No, she was really nice.”“I’m glad… So I’ll pick you up around 7 in the morning?” he smiles.“Okay,” I whisper, and smile up at him.“And, before I forget,” he pulls out his jersey from behind his back, “here is this.”I take the jersey from him, biting my lip, not saying anything. One of his hands softly cups my face, the other resting on the small of my back. He leans down so his lips are almost touching mine.“I think it’ll look better on you than on me,” he whispers, and finally places his lips on mine, gracing me with a short, yet sweet goodnight kiss.“Have sweet dreams,” he whispers into my ear, his hot breath hitting my neck, sending chills down my spine.“You too, drive safely,” I mumble, trying not to show how affected I am by his proximityHe wraps his arms around me, hugging me tightly, and places a gentle kiss on my forehead before backing away to his car. As he drives away I enter my front door, and lean on it, closing my eyes. I place my fingers over my lips, still feeling the tingling the touch of his skin caused. After I stand there for a minute, I make my way to my room, calling out that I’m home to my parents.I close my door, changing into some comfortable clothes, instantly missing the warmth from Calum’s hoodie. I put a big t shirt on, and slip his hoodie back on, taking in his scent and warmth. I fall asleep with a small smile on my face.Chapter 7Another filler chapter, and I really suck at endings, but it’s so full of fluff and kissing, so there you go.Give this one some notes :)Love you guys-HannahxxChapter 8 -- source link
