Description: Calum Hood, the schools golden boy. He’s the reason that the varsity team is undefeated for four years. He’s got perfect grades, a scholarship to one of the best colleges in the country. But no one knows his secret, that his passion for music is bigger than his passion for soccer. And what happens when Ember Williams finds out that secret? Read to find out! Chapter 7 8. I wake up nearly twenty minutes early again, but this time, instead of being happy that I woke up early, I immediately start to freak out. I remember that Calum is picking Lucy and I up, and driving us to school today. I roll out of bed immediately heading for the shower. Quickly finish the shower, and dry my hair, then put my undergarments on, trying to figure out what to wear today. This has never been a problem for me, figuring out what to wear, and now, I’m like your typical teenage girl! Throwing clothes out of her closet, left and right, trying to find an outfit that will look perfect, and impress the teenage boy you’re crushing on. I decide on just wearing my favorite Blink-182 t shirt, and some skinny jeans.I think of doing my makeup, but decide against it because 1. I have no idea how to do makeup, and 2. I don’t want to look like a clown.I head downstairs to grab some breakfast and make sure that Lucy is up and getting ready. I grab a bowl, spoon and the milk, as well as the Cheerios. As I’m pouring the delicious yet healthy cereal into my bowl, Lucy comes running down the stairs, wearing all black, with a headband with furry black ears and a tail.“Let me guess, you’re a cat,” I ask as I pour my milk.“No, I’m supposed to be a kitten, but I have no whiskers! How am I supposed to be a kitten without whiskers?” she squeals dramatically.I think for a minute while shoving a spoonful of Cheerios into my mouth, I get an idea and grab Lucy, setting her on the stool next to mine.“Wait here,” I say through a mouthful of cereal and hurry up to my room. I open the drawer of makeup that my mom bought me for my sixteenth birthday, and have never used. I grab the stick of black eyeliner and hurry down the stairs where Lucy is waiting.“Hold still,” I open up the eyeliner and start to draw a black circle on the tip of her nose.“Did you eat breakfast yet?” I ask as I focus on not messing up.“No,” I sigh and finish filling in the circle on her nose, moving onto drawing the whiskers.I hear footsteps coming down the stairs, and glance back to see that mom.“What are you two up to?” she peeks to see what I’m doing and smiles.“Ember’s giving me whiskers for my costume today,” Lucy smiles at my mom, who smiles back at her, then looks to me.“What a nice thing of Ember to do,” she looks at me and gives me a genuine smile, and I just shrug.“It’s no big deal. There you go Lucy, go look in the mirror then get yourself something to eat, and hurry. A friend is picking us up today,” I explain putting the cap back onto the eyeliner and helping Lucy out of her seat.“Okay, thanks Emmy,” she calls me by her nickname she only uses when we’re not quarreling, or I’m not teasing her. She skips off to the bathroom and mom turns to me to give me a skeptical look.“Which friend is picking you up?”“Calum,” I say through a mouthful of now soggy cheerios, “he brought me home last night, because I left my car at the school.” I continue after I swallow.“That’s why your father was worrying about where your car was,” She realizes.I just nod and quickly finish my breakfast.“Why were you home so late?” she asks as I make my way to the sink to rinse out my bowl.I turn on the water then speak, “His mom insisted that I stayed for dinner, and our project took a while.” I shrug, intentionally leaving out the part where we make out for a third of the time that I was there.“Well that was nice of her!” she smiles, and looks as if she’s deep in thought.“Yeah.. well I’m gonna brush my teeth,” I make my way up the stairs, passing Lucy on her way to the kitchen as I head to my room.I take time brushing my teeth, making sure I get every bit of food out. I rinse my teeth, and make sure that my breath smells minty. I slip on my shoes, and look over my outfit, making sure that everything looks okay, before walking back into my room and gathering everything into my backpack. The doorbell rings out through the house, and I peek out my window to see Calum’s car in our empty driveway.“I got it!” I yell and grab my bag scrambling downstairs.I hear the door open, and my mother’s voice, “Hello! You must be Calum.”He softly smiles, “Yes I am. You must be Ember’s older sister.”My mom laughs, “What a charmer! No, I am Embers mother.”I hurry to the front door, completely checking Calum out as I do. He’s wearing a plain black t shirt and some jeans, his regular outfit. Today he’s wearing a gray beanie as well, with a bit of his raven black hair poking out of it. To say the least, Calum looks extremely attractive, and if it weren’t for my mom standing next to him, I’d be making out with him as soon as I’d opened the door. Calum’s spots me approaching them, and he eyes me up and down, his grin widening.“Good morning, Ember,” he wets his lips with his tongue after speaking, distracting me for a moment.“Good morning Calum,” I reply after a moment, and bite my lower lip slightly. My mom looks between us, and she smirks, “I’ll go grab Lucy.”The minute she is out of view Calum and I simultaneously move towards each other. I place my lips on him as he wraps his arms around my waist. The kiss is sweet, and quick, knowing that my mom could be coming back with Lucy any minute.“You look gorgeous,” he whispers and places a kiss on my cheek.“Thanks. You don’t look so bad yourself,” I smile and tug on his beanie playfully. He smiles down at me, not saying anything. We hear footsteps approaching and pull apart from each other reluctantly. Lucy follows mom in, with her tiny pink backpack on.“You must be Lucy,” Calum bends over, and still towers over him.She nods and smiles up at him, “I am, and I’m a kitten, see.” she turns around and shows him her tail, then turns back around and gives him a ‘meow’.He grins down at her, “Well, you’re the most adorable little kitten I’ve ever seen!” He then pets her head. She giggles and thanks him.“So Calum, I was wondering if you’d like to come over to have dinner with us tonight?” my mom asks out of the blue and my eyes pop out at her.“Mom!”“What? His mother invited you to have dinner with them, I think it’s only fair that we invite him to have dinner with us,” she places a hand on her hip, and looks up expectantly to Calum.“You don’t have to if you don’t want to it’s fine,” I say looking to him.“No, I want to, but I have practice tonight,” I mentally sigh with relief.“Oh,” my mom frowns.“But I’m free tomorrow!” he grins at my mom, and she instantly perks up.My eyes widen and I look at my mom shaking my head, sending her telepathic messages to make something up, causing us to be busy tomorrow.“Tomorrow it is then. You kids should be heading to school or you’ll be late,” She opens up the front door starting to push Lucy and I outside, “it was nice to finally meet you Calum.”“It was nice to meet you too,” he smiles and my mom retreats inside before I can get angry at her.I sigh and we walk to the car with Calum looking at me confused. I just shake my head and help Lucy get in the back. Calum opens my door for me, and I get in, thanking him quietly. He walks over to the driver’s side and gets in. We pull out of the driveway, and I tell Calum where to head. We’re about halfway there when Lucy speaks up, “Are you Ember’s boyfriend?”She says the word as if it’s the most impossible thing she could think of. I’m about to tell her no, but Calum grabs my head and speaks before me.“Yeah, she is,” he looks over at me and smiles.I turn bright red, completely shocked that he said that. I never thought in a million year that Calum would call me his girlfriend. Then again I never thought that he’d kiss me, let alone ever talk to me.“So you’re like her prince charming?” Lucy’s voice sounds so hopeful.“Exactly! I’m like her prince charming,” he smiles and we pull up to her school.“And she’s your Cinderella,” Lucy concludes hopping up and down.Calum nods, “Yep, she’s my Cinderella.”“Have a good day, kitten,” Calum grins finding his nickname for her.She nods and smiles, running away to her school, her little black tail wagging behind her. Calum drives to our school, and we sit in silence the whole time. Once we’re parked next to my car, Calum turns the car off but makes no movement to get out of the car.“So I’m your girlfriend?” I try to sound confident, but my voice is shaky. He looks at me, his eyes filled with insecurity, “Unless you don’t want to be.”“I do, you just haven’t asked me,” I try and sound casual, not wanting to sound snobby, but I’ve always imagined him asking, and I’m not just going to let him get by without asking me.He grins and turns to face me more, “Ember, will you be my girlfriend?” Those six words leave his soft lips, and he’s grinning. I find myself grinning, and unable to speak, so I just nod. He leans in, and places his lips softly on mine. This kiss is the most intimate, and passionate one yet. His hand softly cups my jaw, and his tongue swipes over my bottom lip, asking permission to go further. I accept and open my mouth to him, his tongue immediately darting into my mouth, sending me a completely new, amazing feeling. We pull apart, panting after a few minutes. Calum leans his forehead to touch mine, and my eyes flutter closed. I focus on regulating my breaths. After a minute I’m breathing normal, and I open my eyes to see Calum staring at me.“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this,” he whispers, his gorgeous brown eyes staring into mine.I smile widely at what he just admitted, “I think I do have an idea.”…It’s finally lunch, and my stomach is filled with butterflies. I haven’t told Kim or Jess about anything that has happened with Calum. As I walk down the hallway to where we usually meet them, I start to freak out, thinking about how they’ll reach. I spot Jess immediately, then see Kim talking to Tyler, and next to Tyler, stands a grinning Calum.Once I get to them, Calum’s hand immediately finds mine, and intertwined our fingers. His delicate action causes everyone to give us strange looks.“What? Can’t a guy hold his girlfriend’s hand?” he grins, and looks down at me.My eyes widen, along with Jess and Kim’s, and Tyler just grins.“It’s about damn time,” he exclaims and gives Calum a fist bump.“When did this happen?” Kim asks, still clearly shocked.“This morning,” Calum announces proudly, and I start to blush.Jess is still at a loss for words, and squeals attacking me with a bear hug. I hug her back and start to laugh, noticing kids walking by giving us strange looks. Everyone else starts to laugh too, and Jess finally lets me go.“It’s finally happened! Your dream has come true!” Jess exclaims, and my cheeks resemble a tomato.Calum grabs my hand again, “You’ve dreamed of being my girlfriend?”“Shut up,” I mumble, blushing at his cocky smirk. He leans down and whispers in my ear, causing chills to run down my neck, “In your dreams.”…Calum’s POVBliss.I am in pure bliss.Everything in my life seems to be perfect. I’m successful in soccer, my grades are average, I get along with my parents, and now I have the most perfect girlfriend in the whole world. Ember is truly amazing. She’s so kind, funny, smart, talented, and especially beautiful. I can’t believe that she could ever doubt herself, or be insecure.Yesterday, when she was crying, because she didn’t think she was good enough for me, it broke my heart. I don’t get how she could even believe that the slightest. She’s the best person I know, and I know quite a lot of good people. I want to show her how amazing she is, and keep on showing her and telling her until she believes me.I look down at her eating her lunch and talking to Jess, and can’t help but smile. The joy that I have inside of my heart right now because I have finally made her mine, is the most joy I have ever experienced in my whole life. She glances up at me, catching me staring at her, and her cheeks light up.I just love the way she blushes at everything. I also love it when she bites her lip. It drives me insane, and I find it so hard to resist the urge to kiss her, and kiss her hard. She makes it so hard on me, and she doesn’t even realize it.“Dude are you ready for today’s practice? I heard that coach is going to be hard on us, keeping us there for an extra hour,” Tyler’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts, and I groan.“I don’t want to go. If we have to run extra again, I might pass out,” I joke, but slightly mean it.My breathing troubles have become a real problem. Coach said that if it gets any worse I might not be able to play anymore, which would totally devastate me. My asthma’s basically gone, I just have trouble catching my breath sometimes. I always carry around an inhaler, but thankfully I’ve never had to use it.“What do you mean?” Ember scrunches her eyebrows together, and worry forms on her face. I immediately smile at her concern.“Cal used to have asthma. During one especially rough practice he passed out,” Tyler explains and I roll my eyes.“What?!” Embers eyes widen and she turns completely to me.“It was nothing, Tyler’s just a drama queen. I’m completely fine now, no asthma,” I smile at her and press a quick kiss to her stressed forehead. She relaxes from my touch, but still looks slightly worried, “You sure?”I nod my head, “I’m sure.”But that was a lie.…I stand in the middle of the soccer field, dripping with sweat, gasping for air. My hands are on my knees as I try to control my heart rate.“Hood! You okay?” Coach yells, heading towards me.I just nod my head, holding a finger up, gesturing for him to give me a minute. He gets to me, and places a hand on my shoulder.“Maybe you should take a break, and catch your breath.”I shake my head, “No coach… I’m fine… honest.”“Go sit down, I can’t have you passing out, I need you for Thursday,” he says dead serious, and I know not to challenge coach.I jog over to the bench, and slump down on it, sighing loudly. Tyler runs over to me, sitting down next to me.“You alright?”I sigh putting my face in my hands, “I’m fine, I don’t get what coach is going on about.”He takes a breath and pats my back, “He’s just worried about you. All of us are, none of us want to see you pass out again. That scared the shit out of me.”I just stay quiet for a minute, “Do you think it’s getting as bad as it used to be? Tell me the truth”“Yeah,” he whispers and I almost don’t hear him. My shoulders slump at his reply, “but it’s not there yet! Look at the bright side! All you have to do is be careful, and you’ll be fine.”“I am careful!” I exclaim, feeling so frustrated.“I know, I know. Just be more careful. If you’re feeling even the slightest bit lightheaded, you need to pull back.”“But I want to give it my all, I want to play my best, especially tomorrow,” I shake my head.“Tomorrow is when you need to be most careful.” I look at him confused.“Ember will be watching, and if you pass out it’ll terrify her,” He looks dead serious, and I know he’s right.I nod my head, “That’s the last thing I want.”Awwwww Calum is such a sweet heart!THEY’RE BF & GF ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhSo um this chapter’s a little more “dramatic” and stuff, but the next one will definitely be fun ;))Please give this chapter some notes!Love you guys-Hannahxx -- source link
