Right now, you’re suffering under an enormous weight. We provide… leverage.LEVERAGE (2008-2012)OP, I have to ask why every other character in this gif set is seen in clothes that are typically their clothing style but when it came to Hardison you chose to make his character gif of him wearing chains and a tank. He wears a variety of different clothes, and these gifs are from different episodes so you could have chosen a multitude of other outfits. hi! op here— thank you for bringing this up. that definitely wasn’t my intent, but i’m white, so i don’t get to decide what is or isn’t anti-black. i will absolutely keep the optics of it more deliberately in mind for future gifsets. that being said, i do want to explain what my thought process was. i initially made an entirely different gif for hardison, showing him as a dj during the wedding job, but i wasn’t satisfied with how it turned out. it was difficult to bring up the oranges in the background without compromising the rest of the image—and his skin tone, specifically—and it also didn’t feel particularly dynamic. hardison is a funny, kinetic character who’s often the most overtly demonstrative of the crew, and i wanted the gif to reflect that. i looked at some of the other hacking shots, but a) hacking isn’t particularly dynamic in terms of movement and b) the only hacking shot that really felt vibrant to me was framed between wil wheaton’s legs, which. no. i also looked at the fist pumps when he helps land various planes in the mile high job and the cross my heart job, but neither of those seemed right either. i tried to think of a moment that would showcase all of the things i loved about hardison, and came up with the “pitchy” exchange. there, he’s fiddling with the sound on eliot’s recording (a form of digital manipulation! he’s more than just a keyboard geek!) though that’s sort of a side note to the fact that he’s also pressing eliot’s buttons. moment, movement, color, and the overtones of his friendship with eliot—snarky as it sometimes is—made me settle on that scene.and if it helps at all, here is the conversation i had with a fellow gifmaker and leverage fan: finally: i did put sophie in a gold sequined dress. just like hardison, she’s dressed up for a con. i’m not trying to offer these as excuses, and again, as a white person i don’t get to decide what is or isn’t racist, but any missteps here were definitely unintentional. as i said above, i will keep this in mind going forward. -- source link
