Movies and Music Day 2: Song: “Sally’s Song”Artist: Amy LeeOriginal singer: Catherine O'HaraFilm: “The Nightmare Before Christmas”Director: Tim Burton/Henry SelickSong rating: 9/10Film rating: 10/10Thoughts on the song: A beautiful, yet sad and longing song. A song about being in love with someone and not being sure of their feelings. This is the song performed by Sally in the film when she is worrying about Jack’s plans and wondering if he loves her back the way she loves him. Thoughts on the film:Creative, odd-ball, and just plain all around Tim Burton wonder. Though the film is actually directed by Henry Selick, the idea and art style remain solely Burton’s. The story revolves around a tall and lanky skeleton named Jack Skellington, who begins to wonder if there isn’t more to the afterlife than simply scaring the living every Halloween. In his depression, he explores his way into the world of Christmas, whose bright colors and light hearted cheer contrasted highly with his own world of darkened Halloween. This gives him a crazy idea to attempt to take over Christmas with Halloween antics, and calls forth an old foe who is looking to take his own share of the fun, Oogie Boogie. Meanwhile, a young and oddly pretty humanoid experiment named Sally realizes her own feelings for Jack, and begins to wander if he has ever noticed her before. -- source link
