twistedingenue:silverblaze85:shihtzuman:Preserving one of the most valuable service agencies in the United States while saving one of our most vulnerable segments of the population from shyster like lending practices sounds like a Win/Win #FeelTheBern #Vote4Bernie #Bernie2016 ….okay, but the postal service is currently limping along thanks to Congress? I’m not sure that the post office could make this jump? Not trying to stir crap, but I’m really not sure how this benefits the postal service? Post office is limping thanks to congress trying to strangle the life out of the post office, and forcing them to prefund their pension something like 75 years in advance. Any influx of funding would be good for the post office, trust me, and this would likely need some, at least to get going. And once they do, they’d have all that sweet money from your bank account to invest. That would be a lot of money to use.But mostly, this is about using our existing infrastructure to meet a major need. Providing a safe, secure, and non-usurious institution for the unbanked and underbanked? That would be amazing, particularly if they allow those people who don’t have the best records with banks to have accounts and build a good bank history. -- source link
