Sam had taken the DNA test more for kicks than anything else. He’d ordered it late one drunken night, then completely forgotten about it until the kit turned up on his doorstep. It waited another month before he got around to spitting a sample into the little plastic tube and sending it back off into the mail. When he got the results back, though, he couldn’t believe his eyes! Twenty-five percent Viking! Damn, that was more than half! Just, uh, what was a Viking? So he quickly turned to the internet to learn all about his ancestors. He was particularly interested in their use of thralls, especially the women they would bring back from their raids.
