Winter Photo Tip #2: Know Your GearShooting in winter conditions is all about efficiency. Being familiar with your gear makes it easier to manage in the cold or with gloves on. Be confident with basics like adjusting your settings, pulling up your histogram, and setting up your tripod (you can practice with gloves on in the warmth of your living room). You should also be comfortable with any gear you’re using to cover ground like skis or snowshoes. If you’ve never touched an aluminum tripod with bare hands in cold weather, keep it that way! Use hockey tape or foam to wrap the metal parts of any gear you might handle without gloves. It only takes a few minutes and makes a big difference! How do you winter-proof your photography gear?
