venividivictorious:okay but can we talk about how scary lucifer actually ismaze gets a lot of badass fight scenes in this series, in contrast to lucifer; when we see him fight, he mostly uses his opponent’s strength against them, turns their attacks back on them, and lets them tire themselves out while expending very little effort himself, because mostly he’s fighting humans and humans are gnats to him.that, mixed with the fact that we - the audience - know that lucifer is a giant dork, makes it really easy to forget who and what he is. he’s the biggest, baddest motherfucker in Hell.and we only ever see that in like. tiny little underrated moments. the way he’s not only convinced he could take amenadiel - well-known for being heaven’s strongest angel - in a fight, he actively tries to provoke a scrap to prove it. the way he fights dirty when he does get that fight he wanted, because you can’t fight with honour in Hell; you fight to win. the fact that mazikeen, easily the scariest character in the show, defers to him. maze doesn’t strike me as the sort of person who’d take orders from anyone who couldn’t beat the shit out of her in a fight. she’s a demon; they respect strength and cunning and viciousness, and lucifer has enough of all three to subjugate all of them.(plus when he and maze have their big fight, and she thinks he’s about to abandon her and seriously wants to hurt him - lucifer fights her to a standstill, and he doesn’t even know what they’re fighting about. he’s got no reason at that point to be angry with maze. she’s giving it her all because she’s trying to punish him for leaving her, but he has no reason to want to harm her. which suggests that actually, he was pulling his punches.)when maze is throwing knives at him to test for weaknesses, and he doesn’t flinch. when she then throws her demon dagger at him and he catches it in mid-air, before it hits him, even though she gave him absolutely no warning. and this scene here, how smooth his movements are - he is at least as comfortable with those daggers as maze is, and we’ve almost never seen him use a weapon. he doesn’t need one. because he is one. he is the sharpest weapon Hell ever honed. Maze is Hell’s best torturer, and Charlie’s family. she is probably the most protective of this little boy beside his parents. she could very easily, and happily, torture dromos herself. but she hands the blade over to the devil. because as scary and vicious and bloodthirsty as she is, he’s worse. he has always been worse.
