#Repost @corpusritual (@get_repost)・・・indeed it’s true. our feelings and our embodied experiences have no where to go, except to stay and wreck havoc on our bodies if we dont look at, feel, welcome and witness our emotions. and yeah, pushing them down is totally a survival strategy but what do we do when that stops working or starts eating us from inside? i never worry about the depth of emotion that comes up and out in a Breathwork session. i know these are feelings that have been carried for a feet long time and letting them come up for air is the key to transforming them. bringing them to the light of day is a gift each person gives to themselves..i don’t have heroes or gods but if you’re looking for a super smarty who speaks to the connections between childhood trauma and substance misuse, or you want to know more about why harm reduction is THE way to work with addiction and substance misuse (among other things), or you want to hear from someone who knows deeply how trauma shows up in our physical bodies or you just want to know that some medical doctors are also down with psychedelics and plant medicine for deep healing (he’s done extensive work with ayahuasca), check out Gabor Mate and pick up one of his books “In the Realm or Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction” or “When the Body Says No: Exploring the Stress Disease Connection”..i believe wholeheartedly in harm reduction and have trained in it and work in environments where it is the primary way of navigating addiction and substance misuse (i offer 6 week trauma focused writing workshops at a needle exchange in NYC funded by Poets & Writers usually two times a year) and i just have so much love for the people who have committed their lives to this work..and as always, if you want support in unearthing what you’re already carrying, come do a Breathwork session with me! sliding scale, trauma informed and you can book with the link in my profile. ❤️.#harmreduction #embodiedtrauma #stressdiseaseconnection #wellness #healing #healingtrauma #addiction #psychedelics #substancemisuse -- source link
