prettyaveragewhiteshark:lalonde-lesbian:omg-humor:Two pictures - on the left, a painting of Albert Square Manchester, by the French painter Pierre Adolphe Valette, and on the right a photo of the same spot in 2018.this picture illustrates one of my favorite concepts: people have always been people.Just want to make a correction here - the picture on the right is not just a random photograph of the square. It’s a piece of art created by a woman named Emily Allchurch, and it was commissioned to be a companion piece to Valette’s original painting. That’s literally Allchurch’s whole gig. Here’s the description of her work from her website, www.emilyallchurch.com:The Manchester Art Gallery commissioned her to do this piece in 2015 based on the original as part of a collection. So yes, while the second image is comprised of photography, let’s not pretend that it was just some random snapshot taken by a tourist on the street. This was an artist’s deliberate work and she deserves proper credit. -- source link
