The cats roam in safety around the ruins, and underneath there is a nursery for kittens, plus another room for injured cats. For all the wonderful sights Rome has to offer, we spent nearly an hour and a half inside with the injured cats and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. They are always in desperate need of donations. One warning. It’s an open air cat shelter. For feral cats. And it smells like one. But if you can get past that (and trust me, you should) it’s a great place to visit.
