bastardlybrendan:Photos from North Belfast News showing the last remnants of the “peace wall” separating Catholic and Protestant communities on the Crumlin Road being torn down after thirty years. The initiative to have the 8ft brick wall torn down was community led and has been achieved after years of talks and relationship building between the Catholic and Protestant communities in the area. The towering peace wall, shown above, that separates the Shankill and Falls communities in West Belfast will remain standing and serves as a reminder that today’s events are just part of a long road to tackling the sectarian divide in Northern Ireland. -- source link
