I actually cried when I got this. The Original Characters I created for this fic inspired me to write my novel.I hope every fic writer gets a comment like this one day.hey, sowow???Thank you so much for sharing this, i’m really impressed with the level of effort that you’ve put into the world building and character development. I 100% buy colin as halt’s son, both as a narrative function and just emotionally. i really appreciate the effort put into him and his motivations, and i liked the historical detail of autistic children being called changelings. i’m also so glad the you managed to realistically incorporate sexual assault, explicitly non-straight characters, and aneurotypical characters (things that flanagan shies away from, and i can’t really wave that away as simply a feature of writing for children, considering that the books also feature torture, violent death, slavery, drugs, etc…. and kinda racism if I’m being honest) into the world of ranger’s apprentice in a way that is seamless and natural, but still powerful.i’m so grateful that colin is given plenty of narrative agency in his life, and that he managed to have a happy and fulfilling life outside of his father and has a lot of personality and character quirks – that’s not something that comes easy to OCs. I also love the plot of this story, and I can totally see it fitting into canon rally well, both in the quality and feel of the story as well as the level of detail you’ve given the world.this is my favorite ranger’s apprentice fic i’ve ever read on almost every level, and i think it’s really unfair that this has so little recognition. you should be proud.great job, and i hope your day is awesome ^_^ -- source link
