yepireadthat: Kate Beaton is the brilliant creator of the web comic Hark! A Vagrant. I’ve been a fan for quite some time, and when I saw she had published this children’s book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. (If I’m being 100% honest, I felt slightly skeptical because of the title. I was so hoping it wouldn’t be *just another princess book*, and I am pleased to tell you that all of my fears were unfounded. It’s totally unique and surprising. It’s really good, you guys.)In this book, we meet one of the most adorably named princesses of all time. (I’m not even going to tell you her name, because reading it for the first time brought me so much joy, and I want you to experience that too.) She wants a specific birthday present for specific reasons that I’m not going to mention because it would spoil things. I can tell you that what she gets (as you can tell by the title and cover of the book, so, not a spoiler) is one of the cutest ponies I have ever seen. LOOK AT IT! SO CUTE! This little, round, ball of pony joy is perfect in every way. There isn’t a thing I would change about it, but heck, there isn’t a thing I would change about the rest of the book either. The bulk of the story is about team Prince Adorable Name, and Cute Pony. It’s a sweet story, and it also made me snort laugh, so I don’t really think I could have asked for more from it. There isn’t much else to say, so Ill just end with this: Go! Read it! It doesn’t even matter if you have kids. Picture books are for adults too, my friends. -- source link
