I’ve gotten used to receiving anon hate over the past few months, since I called out Galina Krasskova on her support for a white supremacist Norse group. I usually ignore those messages, to avoid giving trolls a public platform. However, this thing is new and repetitive. I decided to look around tumblr today, and apparently other people have also been getting this, too.Anyone who reads my blog knows I’ve always stood against white nationalists/ white supremacists/the alt-right/neo-nazis/the identitarian movement, racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, ableism, ageism, and all those who spread hate. It’s very sad that someone has decided to exacerbate tensions between those who worship the Hellenic pantheon. As I said back in February:I acknowledge the freedom of others to call their practice by whatever name they see fit….I wish them well. I hope that the names we use to describe our practice do not further divide us, and that we can continue to coexist, learn from each other, and encourage the worship of the gods.We don’t have to agree with each other. We don’t have to practice alike. But I think we all should strive for virtue, and that means practicing xenia on our blogs which is, at minimum, welcoming newcomers and being civil to each other. Whoever is sending these messages would be better off spending time in prayer, worship, and studying the philosophers. I think we all know the long-standing troublemakers in the tumblr community, but this could well be someone outside the usual suspects. It doesn’t really matter who is behind this. What does matter is that we don’t let this troll speak for our religion. We must model the virtues this person hates. @pomegranateandivy made an excellent post about this. I agree with it. We need to work together - and work constantly - to keep hate out of our religion. Other people who worship the Theoi depend on us to set an example of arete. The gods expect no less from us. -- source link
