lost-carcosa:gallusrostromegalus:gingerblivet:@martivist how dare you leave these gems in the tags! Alright but consider: deer have a frankly terrifying way of surviving any injury that does not immediately kill them. I’ve seen pictures of deer walking around on their exposed tibia after losing thier hind feet in a snare. I’ve seen a doe with several of her ribs on the outside of her skin, healed around the exposed bone, with two fawns in tow. Deer also survive extreme cold and heat, yearly starvation, and kick dangerously enough make even north america’s largest carnivores approach with caution. Also consider: pigeons have some borderline supernatural abilities- they can sense electromagnetic fields, are some of the fastest and most nimble fliers of the birds, and also survive absurd injuries like missing feet, half beaks and broken wings. They live in cities, the most inhospitable ecosystems on earth. What I’m saying is that this creature has the intellect of a side of applesauce, but it’s also got the fortitude to survive that negative IQ. Truly, God’s Most Perfect Idiot.AD&D 1st edition Monster Manual (TSR, 1977)It’s Treasure Type B?? This homicidal deer-eagle thing keeps thousands of coins in its lair?? I mean, fair enough, you need a +2 weapon to hit it. BUT STILL. How many hearts do you have to rip out to accumulate a big ol’ TT like B?… Irony of ironies if you roll up a +2 sword in its hoard. -- source link
