apoherm:reviewsiumFirst post of 2021; new feed, new books.My bookmail for this month will focus on Russian literature, in particular Crime and Punishment and Gogol’s plays; thanks to some of you who recommended these to me and gave precious insights about how to approach Russian classics. I’m at part three - chapter II of Crime and Punishment: It’s a slow-paced psychological thriller so it takes more concentration and motivation to get further but this translation is pretty good, the notes in this Oxford edition are a bless for a Russian literature “newbie” — furthermore Dostoevskij’s genius is making me appreciate words, sub-plot and scenes, I personally crave to read more. Also, I don’t want to rush any reads this year and take my time through the reading process. -- source link
