nyx-eira:thisisdarrelsblog:whileyoureinschoolidothisallday:titenoute:heybattabattaswing:You did not make me do anything. I did not make you do anything. This was our mission. Ours.Yep that’s the sadly ironic point in OFF.He also never lied when he said he wanted to purify the world, the big moron in the story is us.Yeah y’know I really love this.Because he’s absolutely right. We could’ve stopped whenever we wanted to. There’s a big red X button right over there in case you missed it. The second we started catching on we could’ve said, “Nah man, I’m really not cool with helping you commit genocide I’m out.” And don’t sit there and try to tell me that you had no idea what was happening, because there is no way you can play this game and not feel, at some point, “There is something horribly wrong going on here.” I can actually pinpoint the exact moment where I started to question the Batter’s motives. The second we felt that we could’ve cut the puppet strings and exited the game. The second we had to kill the Elsen that only screamed for help, we could’ve stoppedThe second we saw the first purified zone, we could’ve stoppedThe second we killed The Queen, we could have stopped. The second we realized we had to kill Hugo, we could have stopped. But we didn’t. We ignored what we knew was wrong just so we could see what happened next. We justified genocide just to see what we’d get at the end, or see what kind of justice Batter would get. I think that’s why most of us felt so violated or sick when The Judge held us accountable, some of us even cried, because that was when it truly sunk in that this was just as much our fault as it was the Batter’s. This game constantly acknowledges that we are the ones controllling it, we have the power to stop at any time, and when we failed to do so it never hesitated to look us straight in the eye and say “What the fuck is wrong with you? You let him destroy our world for your own sick entertainment.”We try to put all the blame on Batter and call him the monster, but what the hell are we?….That was so deep, and shook me so much, I actually had to lay down -- source link
