Here’s a picture I took a few weeks ago of Dawkins, our newest potbelly resident. The difficult thing about pigs is that it can be tough to integrate a new pig with the existing herd. Pigs can be territorial and not want to accept new members, even becoming aggressive with them, so it can take time for a new pig to really settle in. When Dawkins was first moved in with the other pots, I noticed they wouldn’t let him come in the large barn. (Don’t worry, there are smaller individual hutches for them to sleep in as well.) But pigs LOVE to sleep together, they’re very social animals. So when, a few weeks later, I was checking their water and saw Dawkins sleeping in the large potbelly barn, I was almost moved to tears because I was so happy for him! Now Dawkins is really a part of the potbelly herd! -- source link
