cyrodiilic:lucien-fairfax:cyrodiilic:selenethebreton:The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion - SceneryI wish more people would give Oblivion a chance. It got a lot of hatred for really ridiculous reasons, in my opinion. The first time I tried Oblivion, I was absolutely not a gamer (I can tell that now, LOL), and I was really lost about a lot of things… not to mention the fact that I kept giggling at the pudding-faces. Because, let’s admit it — unmodded, the textures in that game can be a riot. But when I started Oblivion this time around, even after having gorged Myself on Skyrim, I kept saying, “Wow. I can’t believe it. It’s like… it’s comfortable. I am really comfortable with this game.”[ And the modding really helped things look nice. ]So yes. I agree. I love Oblivion. It’s wonderful. I’m glad I went back and got it again instead of letting My first impressions overrule My sense of logic.Funny you should say that, I recently started playing Oblivion after binging on Skyrim. Likewise, Cyrodiil was just comfortable in a way that Skyrim never was. The quest lines were longer, better written: the Main Quest still tugs at my heartstrings, the Thieves Guild upholds the spirit of ‘steal from the rich, give to the poor’ noble thieving, the Dark Brotherhood behaves like a family…Skyrim looks amazing, but I feel as the series has progressed from Morrowind to Skyrim, it’s lost a lot of the charm I grew in love with: the lore, the immersion. Morrowind and Oblivion would be amazing games with Skyrim graphics because in comparison to Skyrim, they writing is just better executed. -- source link
