Before/After tornado photosGoogle has been recently finding new and interesting ways to present the enormous quantity of data they have in Google Earth, including long-term satellite images of the growth and evolution of cities and landscapes. These images are before (top) and after (bottom) satellite photos from Google Earth of the city of Moore, Oklahoma, which was heavily damaged by a tornado in 2013.In this image you can see the tornado damage path near its widest point, nearly a kilometer in width, marked by the section of homes and buildings reduced to rubble. You can also make out the Plaza Towers elementary school (towards the upper right) and the Briarwood Elementary School (lower left) which appear to have been completely destroyed.Other rapid satellite data, such as wildfire maps, can be found through that website as well.-JBBImage Credit: Google (Google Maps):http://google.org/crisismap/2013-oklahoma-tornado -- source link
