yolandaash:teandcrackers: “Dr. Banner.”#amazing#man though i would love to see like — how ruffalo’s bruce banner moved#before he was the hulk#because the thing that’s so amazing/painful/brilliant about this scene#is how careful bruce banner is not to take up any space#not to invade anyone else’s space#there are always posts going around about people on the subway and those discussions have a gendered aspect to them usually#like they’re talking about how men stretch their legs and women try to compact themselves#and i bring that up only because: i think of those posts when i see this scene#i think about bruce banner on a subway trying to make himself small#the same way he’s careful to step away; to avoid touch#in this moment and in the rest of the film#and i mean of course — OF COURSE — a huge piece of that is just about the obvious#about avoiding triggers that could release the beast within (so to speak)#but i wonder — i really do wonder — how much of it is compensation#how much of it is bruce making himself small as a subconscious apology#for all the times he can’t help being big#we’re not a team we’re a time bomb(via gyzym)more than just avoiding a hulk out, he’s a survivor of child abuse. He learned at an early age to appear small, to avoid notice, and to distrust authority. Spending years on the run from the military just compounded it. -- source link
