Body Educated. A formal education system should prepare people for living life in modern society. This typically means providing access to knowledge and skills that increase understanding and knowledge.One of the greatest lessons that is lacking in today’s world is the lesson of self-acceptance. It is one of the easiest lessons to teach, but one of the hardest concepts to gain widespread acceptance. It is understandable that people feel anxious, embarrassed, or even terrified to talk about how bodies work when they themselves have been brought up in culture that is against it. Because of that, they tend to ignore it. I think it is obvious by now how damaging that view is and why we need to shift our paradigm to allow for a more body tolerant and understanding society.In nudist communities children usually grow up with very little body shame. They see bodies in all stages of life. There is no mystery. This avoids much of the fear and embarrassment that their textile counterparts encounter. Unfortunately I often hear parents and “concerned citizens” cry out against anything relating to nudity especially when it comes to education and acceptance. We need to fight this. It is our responsibility to provide access for people to accept themselves. To be here and allow them the opportunity and chance to free themselves from their fears and worries and appreciate who they are. A solid nudist education helps people overcome themselves. It helps them understand their fears and self-doubts, their hang ups, and what they were taught to think of themselves.
