smithsonianlibraries:Japanese painter Asai Chu is well known for being a prominent yoga (Western-style) painters in Japan during the Meiji period. In this two volume book, Tōsei fūzoku gojūban utaawase, he and writer Ikebe Yoshikata collaborated to create this book of uta awase, a poetry contest of sorts.
