The Old (1896) by Hakobyan, S. Hmayak 1871 - 1939, Tbilisi, Georgia Hmayak Hakobyan was an Armenian painter from Tbilisi, Georgia. He was known for his compositions of portraits, still life, landscapes and small canvases. At first he enjoyed an education in painting at the Nersisyan School in Tbilisi from Mr. H.S. Shamshinian from 1886-91. After this he lived in Munich from 1891-94 to study at the Imperial Academy of Munich. Hakobyan lived and worked in Germany, Switzerland and Caucasus, mainly in Tbilisi. -- source link
