ridiculouslyphotogenicsinosaurus:Tarbosaurus bataar, a tyrannosaurid from Mongolia. Thanks to the magic of convergent evolution, it looked incredibly similar to it’s more famous North American relative, Tyrannosaurus. It differed in smaller details, mostly, with little skull adaptations to help it tackle different prey (titanosaurs, mostly, of which there were very few where T. rex lived). The main difference to look out for is how narrow Tarbosaurus’s snout was compared to Rexy’s.The colour scheme here pays homage to the Tarbosaurus featured in Chased By Dinosaurs, and it would likely be quite inaccurate in real life. Tarbosaurus lived in quite a swampy environment, with floodplains, lakes and forests too. Given that it was likely an ambush predator, it would have needed camouflage that such light colouration would not have given. -- source link
