Below that is considered the property of the owner. The police are effectively on their property without a warrant. Shoot them down and file a lawsuit immediatelyOr…and this is to avoid the possible array for destruction of police property, record the drone and file suit for trespass. Enough of those and the cities might stop the overflights. Only have to pay the civil lawyer, not the criminal one as well.Although really, downing one would be very satisfying. You misunderstand, this is in the United States. The police are allowed to commit crimes here. It’s called “qualified immunity” and it means they can’t get in trouble if they do bad things in the process of doing police things. Right. Remember that “qualified immunity” means that unless the cop has been very specifically instructed that *this particular act* is unlawful, then he’s given the benefit of the doubt and can’t be held liable for his actions.Did I mention that YOU get NO such benefit of the doubt? That “ignorance of the law is no excuse” and that you didn’t know (for instance) the possession of an eagle feather (even if you just found it on the ground) is a federal FELONY under a law designed to discourage the hunting of protected species for their feathers? It is. And possession of the feather is all the proof of guilt they need; that you didn’t know was unlawful IS NO DEFENSE.For you. For a cop, it’s enough to give him “qualified immunity” and a stern talking to and instructions to be more careful next time. -- source link
