herr-kroenen:Progressives have a really bad problem of wanting change to happen instantaneously instead of actually working within the political process to make it a permanent aspect of American society. You will not pass progressive legislature under an administration like the current, but you will almost certainly get the chance to do so under a Biden administration with a House and Senate majority and a more liberal Supreme Court. Yes, Bernie lost the primary. But look at how much he gained during it. Bernie had almost twice as much support as he did back in 2016 when he was a relative unknown to most of the country. His whole campaign’s slogan was literally “Not me, us”. It amazes me to see people who are so passionate for the kind of values Bernie calls for disparaging their only hope of actually getting those values into American society.Progressive values are the future of this country, but many progressives don’t seem to understand the political process. You don’t elect the ultimatum, you work incrementally, voting in more and more increasingly progressive Congressmen/women and Senators until the country has changed for the better.Republicans have been able to do this since Reagan. Almost 30 years of political strategy to push conservatives farther and farther right and now we have one of the most evil people in the White House. I don’t know why progressives don’t seem to get this. You don’t get to a President Bernie Sanders or AOC without electing some Bidens and Pelosis. Do you really think a second Trump term is going to mean the 2024 election will turn in your favor? You’ll be even lucky if the current administration allows Democrats and Independents to exist in this country by then.Please, for the sake and the future of the country and its institutions, vote for Joe Biden. He is not the perfect candidate, but perfect is the enemy of good. We will be able to further this country for the better if we elect Biden, elect a majority to the Senate, and keep control of the House of Representatives. If you want a progressive future for America, a vote for Biden is a vote towards that. -- source link
