I love working in the orchard garden in the evenings, but this period at the beginning of summer is the time of the year when I like the garden the least. This year especially. We had some heavy rain in the past few weeks that washed away most of the last things we sowed (beans, leeks, luffas, cucamelons and parsnip), so we’ll have to resow those. The peppers and some of the brassicas aren’t where I’d like them to be yet. I’ll get over it in a few weeks, but until then, gardening there is a bit frustrating. At least the carrots and parsley have sprouted unusually fast and are doing well, so there’s that. The sunflowers are growing fast, too. And there are still some peonies left, even though most are past their prime by now. -- source link
