Tomato update! They all went in the ground this past Saturday (along with all the peppers - it was horrid, do not recommend, won’t do it all in the same day again). It was such a rush because we were already around 3 weeks behind with planting due to my neighbor’s new puppy (who loved to jump our fence and dig everywhere in our garden, so a new fence needed to be installed before anything could be planted) and the limited time I have for gardening. As always, the first row are my tomatoes. They grew very well and healthy this year, but they’ve been in tiny cups for way too long, were starting to look sick and get smaller by the day. Didn’t have time to put them in bigger planters, so I’m happy they’re in the ground. After last year’s experience, I know they’ll recover just fine. They already look better. I also planted some of the remaining ones at the orchard. The other 3 rows are mostly filled with seedlings from the farmers market. Only a few of the ones I sowed outside sprouted, and they are in the beginning of the row on the left. All my neighbors had the same problem with seedlings this year because of the weather, so I’m not even bothered anymore. All in all, we have 36 varieties in the ground. 31 are mine and the other 5 are local heirlooms. -- source link
