lphis:acapellapacifist:spookyskapunkrock:I’m frustrated.welcome to the education systemwhere teenagers know more about feminism than the adults.okay this is one of the things i’m actually the most excited about because likethis is the first generation where students aren’t entirely beholden to institutions for access to information—schools, libraries, universities, places with money—now students can shape their own educations in ways that have never, NEVER, existed. All that’s needed is some basic hardware and a desire to learn. You want to learn about x, you type x into google, hit go and start learning. All information—from global perspectives—is now readily available and not 6 hours away at some random library with sketchy operating hours maybe if i’m lucky o shit i don’t have gas money bla bla bla. This is a massive, massive shift. Unless you permit it, they don’t control your education anymore—YOU DO. All they have control over is which pieces of paper with pretty stamps you can say you have “earned” on your resume. But if you want to learn things, to know things, to understand the world around you and develop that education completely independent of “formal” education structures, you now have the ability to do so, to teach yourself. And once you know how to teach yourself, you can learn anything. ANY-THING. That is beyond amazing to me, because independent, open minded, critical thinkers who can bare witness to the flaws inherent to random institutions (like above) are deliciously DELICIOUSLY dangerous to systemic bullshit. And it’s never been easier to become one. YOU CAN DO IT IN YOUR BATH ROBE. SO EXCITE. -- source link
