As you may know (a refresher at http://on.fb.me/1iznja5 and http://on.fb.me/1hwPNWF), Death Valley is a very hot, low, and dry place. However, in 2005, a short-lived “lake” formed due to unusually high rains in the area. While it was dry before summer, it made for an unusual visit to Death Valley.
