In the second place, I couldn’t resist adding my personal favorite: “The Moorish Chief”, by Eduard Charlemont, 1878.It’s my favorite purely because it hangs in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and I’ve seen it in person many times. It is completely mesmerizing.
