In August of 2013, Robert Chelsea’s car was struck by a drunk driver. The collision and ensuing explosion left Robert severely disfigured. He suffered third-degree burns over 60% of his body and face. After years of evaluations and tests, Robert finally received a full face transplant. He was the first African-American to ever receive a full face transplant as well as the oldest person to ever receive a full face transplant.
