thegoodomensdumpster:tartan-thermos:tartan-thermos:In this essay I will#i officially regret contributing to the ‘crowley was raphael’ meta#like hi hello if you don’t think everything about crowley’s arc is more meaningful because he’s Just Some Demon whose main claim to fame#is striking lucky on his first big field assignment#and yet who still chose to love humanity and rebel under threat of an eternity of torture and stand by an angel over and over#a two-bit demon who wound up ready to fight satan on an airstrip with a tire iron just to buy the humans there a little more time#then… idk what to tell you#good omens is about how it’s the choices you make and not the gang you belong to that matter#and about how it’s not gonna be the Chosen Ones with Special Destinies who are gonna save us#adam young was the Chosen One but he only saved the world because he had the chance to grow up as an ordinary boy and have free will#‘he’s not your dog! he’s his own dog!’#crowley isn’t special because he was secretly once the archangel of hearts and stars and kittens#crowley is special because he is CROWLEY#and because of who he chooses to beThis is exactly why I think the whole Raphael HC thing makes Crowley a weaker character. There’s nothing bad headcanoning it of course, but really, it’s more powerful to me if Crowley is a low level demon, because it makes his choices and decisions much braver and dangerous, and it reflects deeply what kind of person he is.He is scared, he has questionned and stil questions everything, he is cynical, he is curious, he learns to love humans by being in contact with them, even though he has seen the worst of humanity he still thinks they are worth it, and he has crippling anxiety and depression, and he knows he’s up against much more powerful ennemies than him, but he’s still good, and he still tries to do his best.Even though he has very little chance of success. -- source link
