Happy Birthday to Amelia Earhart, born on July 24th, 1897. She obtained a pilot’s license in 1923 and flew several domestic flights during the following years. In 1928, she flew across the Atlantic Ocean for her first time, although she was a passenger on this flight. Four years later, she became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic solo. In 1937, she made two attempts to circumnavigate the globe. On her second attempt, she landed in Lae, New Guinea and disappeared shortly after taking off for the next leg of her trip.
